4 Night 5 Day Option

DAY 1                                                                                                                                                                                   

Arrive in the “Heaven & Earth” Valley; check in to your 4-star cottage on a beautiful farm in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Comfortable 4 star accommodation within walking distance of many of the valleys award winning wine estates. Take a walk to a nearby winery for a taste of the wine valley (2km). Dinner at the cottages with a glass or two of the wine valley’s best.

DAY 2

Enjoy breakfast before we stretch our legs on the single track taking us past several wineries and estates in the valley. Beautiful gorges and fynbos paths. We visit Bosman winery and Protea farm for a tasting and lunch. Walking along country roads and farm tracks through horse stud and orchards with some magnificent mountain scenery before reaching our overnight accommodation. (Distance 14km)

DAY 3

After a carbo-load breakfast there’s a transfer to Fernkloof Nature Reserve. Heading up the mountain for a good 5 km climb to Galpin Peak with magnificent views of the Heaven & Earth Valley as well as Walkerbay. Tea, coffee and packed lunches are enjoyed as we soak up the scenery. Walking in Fernkloof Reserve is experiencing the most prolific and diverse flower region on the planet, the very heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. The varied geology and ecosystems make for an interesting and diverse walking experience. The descent to Voelklip in Hermanus is a wonder of stunning coastal views     (Distance +12-14 km)         

DAY 4

Today’s single track is along the base of the Babylonstoren mountain range through some marvellous vegetation ascending to Ataraxia, the highest vineyard in the valley. We descend through the vineyards, olive groves and fynbos in the Kleinrivier Mountain range valley from Ataraxia wine farm to Spookfontein’ s boutique Wine Estate.  Here we enjoy a well-earned lunch and wine tasting. (Distance 12 km)

DAY 5

After breakfast we head down to Grotto Beach for an epic bare-foot walk to a rock outcrop called Sopies Klip. There is always interesting birds and marine life on route.  We picnic on the rocks and chill before the return walk. Arriving back at the start you have completed your trail! (12 km) Alternate route is the famous Hermanus Cliff Path (in the event of the lagoon being open, making the beach walk inaccessible)
