Description of the Hemel en Aarde Vine to Beach 3 night option

DAY 1                                                                                                                                                                                   

Arrive in the “Heaven & Earth” Valley; check in to your 4-star cottage on a beautiful farm in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Comfortable 4 star accommodation within walking distance of many of the valleys award winning wine estates. Braai & star-gazing with a glass or two of the wine valley’s best. Check-in from 14:00

DAY 2

Explore the Heaven & Earth Valley with a scenic ramble though vineyards, fynbos and rocky gorges.

Optional wine tastings at some of the award-winning estates in the valley. Orchards and horse farms make for an interesting and varied walk. (14km)

 OR

 After a carbo-load breakfast, we head out towards Fernkloof Nature Reserve, exploring the reserve along rugged single tracks. Enjoy tea en route to Galpin Peak with a lunch break at the high point. Magnificent views of the Heaven & Earth Valley and Hermanus.  Walking in Fernkloof Reserve is experiencing the most prolific and diverse flower region on the planet, the very heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. The varied geology and ecosystems make for an interesting and diverse walking experience. The descent to Voelklip in Hermanus is a wonder of stunning coastal views. (16 km mountain walk)

Vine to Beach

DAY 3

Walking from the guest farm we head out through farmland and orchards to explore the base of the Babylonstoren mountain range. The trail ascends to Ataraxia, the highest vineyard in the valley. We descend through the vineyards, olive groves and aromatic fynbos to the Kleinrivier Mountain range. Hiking part of the Epic cycle route, the rugged trail leads to Spookfontein boutique restaurant for a well earned lunch. A short transfer takes us home.

DAY 4

After breakfast we descend to Grotto Beach for an epic bare-foot walk to a rock outcrop called Sopies Klip. There is always interesting birds and marine life on route.  We picnic on the rocks and chill before the return walk. Arriving back at the start you have completed your trail!  (12 km)

Alternate walk is the Hermanus Cliff Path (4-10km)
