Overberg Wine Walk 3 night Option

The Wine Tasting Walk  has been designed for those who enjoy walking at a leisurely pace in beautiful natural environments and are then rewarded with great food and wine experiences.This is our Overberg Wine Walk 3 night option. The 3 night trail is our most popular trail and is perfect for midweek and weekend breaks. The wine tasting walk is tailored to suit the interests and fitness level of the group,visiting the farms and wine estates within the Hemel en Aarde Valley. The walks very in distance from short 2 kilometre walks to a 10 kilometre stroll, with a coffee break, fresh tea or coffee brewed on the trail. A time for a rest and to soak in the beauty of the Hemel en Aarde valley. 

Overberg Wine Walk

3 nights

DAY 1           

Check in to your 4-star   cottage on the beautiful working farm in the heart of the Hemel & Aarde Valley, within walking distance of many of the valleys award winning wine estates. Transfer to the top of Rotary Way for a panoramic view of Hermanus  before strolling downhill  though aromatic mountain fynbos to sample the fruit of Hamilton Russell‘s Estate vineyard.  Hamilton Russell is one of the most southerly wine Estates in Africa and pioneered viticulture & wine making in the Hemel & Aarde Valley.

Relaxing on the banks of the lake  we  enjoy a picnic under the trees while sampling the vineyards best (Distance 2 km) . From the wine estate the group will be transferred back to the farm for a relaxing evening and dinner under the stars.

Wine tasting walk

DAY 2 

On day two of the Wine Tasting Walk, enjoy a hearty farm breakfast before stretching your legs on one of the most scenic walking routes in the valley. We walk from our overnight accommodation,  along the Kleinrivier Mountainside to La Vierge Winery, then to Bosman Family Winery where we visit the Frame House for a wine tasting. Continuing on we stroll  through horse farms, orchards and vineyards to Sumaridge Wine Estate for a wine tasting while enjoying their sumptuous lunch platters. Transfer to our next overnight stop, the Hemel en Aarde Cottages nestle alongside the Babylonstoren Mountain range (Distance 10km)

DAY 3 

After breakfast the trail takes us up the valley in the shadow of the Babylonstoren Mountain range. We visit the vineyards of Ataraxia, the highest positioned winery in the valley and stop off for a tasting before descending to cross over to the Kleinrivier mountainside, hiking through olive trees and aromatic fynbos. Reaching the tasting room of Spookfontein we relax for lunch in their marvelous boutique restaurant.          (Distance 11 km)

Day 4

The final day of the Wine Walk starts along a section of the famous Hermanus Cliff Path with beautiful coastal sea views.  We take an easy walk to Dutchies restaurant alongside Grotto Beach for a champagne breakfast “with a sea view”. The white sandy shores mark the end of the Overberg Wine Walk. (Distance 3 km)
